We’ve seen prototypes of the upcoming BMW X5, including the M version, throughout the course of this year. Now, our spy photographers caught this large SUV once again, and this time we can see part of the interior.

Inside the X5, you’ll notice a large central screen and a digitalized instrument cluster. Compared to the current X5, the new interior features a cleaner array of climate controls and other buttons just below the center screen. Lower on the center console, plenty of buttons surround the familiar rotary knob, and you’ll find a smaller gear stalk on the left hand side.

The exterior of the X5 looks similar to other prototypes we’ve seen. The similarities include the large double kidney grille that dominates the front end. But now there are black wheels and silver trim around the windows. The taillights look different from those on the last standard X5 prototype we saw, although neither look production ready. The headlights appear almost ready for prime time, however. BMW took some of the camo off the front lower vents, giving us a slightly better look at this part of the vehicle as well.

The X5 will likely be released later this year, followed soon by the X5 M.

We also recently spotted the BMW X7 that will sit above the X5. Like its smaller sibling, the X7 featured the huge kidney grilles and many of the same interior design cues. BMW will produce the future X5 and X7 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, alongside the X3, X4, and X6.
