Video shows off the truck’s new interior and exterior
To keep up with the newly revamped Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado, Ram has introduced a next-generation 1500 pickup truck. In this video, Motor Trend En Espanol Managing Editor Miguel Cortina shows us all the ins and outs of Ram’s new full-size truck, designed to be quieter and more comfortable than its predecessor.
The entry that typically ranks behind Ford and Chevy’s pickups in terms of sales has stepped up its game with a stronger frame, updated suspension, and better fuel economy. The truck is larger than the model it replaces, but it’s also around 225 pounds lighter with the help of high-strength steel. Ram has added an eTorque mild hybrid system on the model’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engines. This system has a belt-drive motor generator and a 48-volt battery pack, adding up to 90 lb-ft of torque on V-6 models and 130 lb-ft on models with the V-8.
